Announcing the passing of author G.N. Gudgion

We are deeply saddened to announce the death of Geoffrey (G.N.) Gudgion.

Geoff was the author of five novels, including the Rune Song Trilogy, which was published by Second Sky in 2023.

Before turning his hand to writing, Geoff had a long career as a naval officer and a business executive. He was also an accomplished and passionate horseman, sailor, and singer.

He passed away in August 2025, after a short battle with cancer.

Geoff’s editor, Jack Renninson, said:

‘I was so sorry to learn of Geoff’s passing. He was a true gentleman and every conversation with him was a pleasure. I count myself incredibly lucky to have worked on his books. Geoff was a wonderful writer, with a seemingly effortless ability to craft stories full of excitement and beauty. In particular, the Rune Song Trilogy shines with a love of adventure, of youth, of riding, and a deep and generous understanding of human nature. Geoff will be deeply missed by all who knew him at Second Sky and Bookouture.’

At this sad time, our sympathies are with Geoff’s wife, Deborah, his children, James and Sophie, and his four grandchildren.
